| Belarus and Romania signed the intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation in Bucharest on October 21. The foreign ministries of the two countries also held ministerial consultations on October 21, BelTA learnt in the Belarusian Embassy in Romania. The agreement was signed in the Romanian Ministry of Economy and Finance. The document was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Valery Voronetsky and Deputy State Secretary of the Romanian Economy and Finance Ministry Adrian Radu. The intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation creates the legal base to develop the cooperation in such areas as agriculture, industry, construction, power engineering, tourism, small and middle-sized business, transport, science and technologies. Special attention will be paid to commercial information exchange, organization of joint ventures and exhibitions in the territory of both the countries. Belarus and Romania will set up the intergovernmental Belarusian-Romanian Commission for Economic Cooperation which will control over the implementation of the document. After the signing of the document, the two sides shared opinions regarding the trade and economic cooperation. The sides noted that there is a need to develop new forms of industrial cooperation including the joint ventures setting up. According to specialists, it is necessary to strengthen the interregional relations that will allow Belarus and Romania to intensify the bilateral cooperation. During the ministerial consultations, the Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Voronetsky, the Romanian side – State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Raduta Matache. Charge d’Affaires ad interim of Belarus to Romania Dmitry Shemetov, officials of the Belarusian and Romanian foreign ministries took part in the ministerial consultations in Bucharest. The two sides discussed a wide range of the Belarusian-Romanian contacts including the state and prospects of the cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas. The sides also discussed the possibility to conclude the bilateral agreement on mutual trips of citizens of both the countries and the agreement on visa-free trips for those who have diplomatic and service passports. The Romanian side also informed the Belarusian side about its support of the initiative regarding the reduction of the Schengen visa cost for the Belarusian citizens. The sides confirmed the readiness to develop the treaty base in the area of tourism, sport, customs clearance and agriculture. During the ministerial consultations, the Belarusian and Romanian sides exchanged opinions concerning the urgent issues of the international relations.
