| 16 November 2007 Representatives of the Border Guard Service of Moldova took part in the international seminar on the “Practical cooperation in external sea border control in the European Union” that was held in Lisbon, Portugal. In the course of the two-day seminar, border delegations from the EU member states and third countries made their presentations about their agencies’ activities in the field of migration and its control, EU policy for combating illegal migration, methods for prevention of human trafficking. Besides, the seminar considered the strategy of FRONTEX in improving protection of the EU external borders, studied operation of FRONTEX rapid response teams (RABIT), and discussed border control technologies including passports with biometric data. Besides, meetings were held in the course of the seminar between the Moldovan Border Guard Service delegation and FRONTEX representatives to discuss key aspects of building a legislative framework for bilateral cooperation.
