On 12 October, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine presented system of improvement of the foreigners’ accommodation in Pavshyne - a temporary accommodation center (TAC) for illegal migrants in Mukacheve district, Trans-Carpathian oblast. The accommodation center is Ukraine’s largest facility of such a scale. The event was attended by representatives of the oblast and district state administrations, the International Organization for Migration, Caritas charity fund, Region Karpaty-Nika international health and environment protection fund, Trans-Carpathian oblast organization of the Red Cross Society, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergencies, and the State Committee for Nationalities and Religion. Pavshyne had until recently been designed for accommodation of 250 illegal migrants. The territory of the former aviation base had until now allowed to accommodate no more than 150 persons. Reconstruction of the base had to be initiated to improve accommodation facilities and create new space for 250 persons.

For this purpose the Border Guards bought 10 modular cars, which allowed increasing the number of accommodations to 320 spaces.

Besides, the premises were repaired, and a video surveillance system was installed.

Currently, more than 280 illegal migrants are placed in in Pavshyne TAC, originating from India, Pakistan, Vietnam and Afghanistan. During 9 months of the current year, about 2,000 persons stayed the center.
