On 20 November 2006, the Government informed that it would send a naval patrol boat to Guinea-Bissau's territorial waters to combat irregular migration. The corvette will work alongside Guinea's security and immigration services, under the co-ordination of the EU's external border agency, the FRONTEX, to mount surveillance missions on Guinea's jagged and island-strewn Atlantic coast.
